  how long did you date?

  i was reading another post by exms and he mentioned three years.

  in the area where i am at, three years would have never been accepted.

  We married exactly 2 years to the day of our first date. It was a long distance relationship. Both born-ins and in fulltime service. We had very little alone time b/c the family and congregation always wanted to get with us. We really should have taken more time to get to know each other one on one. But it's worked out , we love each other and are really good friends too.

  JWoods makes an excellent point. - The socialism of the witness dating scene is very counterproductive to getting to know someone well enough to determine if you really want to live with them for the rest of your life.........it's a total crap shoot.

  Yep - This makes me angrier than anything else the WTS has done or will ever do. I am angry at the GB, writing dept, and so-called faithful slave and even angrier at my family for continuing to eat this bull$hit and act as if nothing is wrong.

  Undercover's post sums it up for me too. Everytime I think I'm over it........they pull me back in.

  In some situations and at some times these statements are true. It is not an absolute, though. We cannot discount the reality that there are billions of decent, hardworking, deserving people in the world who are dealt a hand of cards that will make their life extremely difficult no matter what they do.

  Interesting topic and comments, gonna think a bit more about this intuition thing and see what I come up with........lol

  Is it mind control or just strong social conformity?

  or are the two interconnected?.

  just watched a dateline episode that dealt with social conformity in which they duplicated the 50's experiment telling a person to shock another while listening to him scream from the other room.

  most of the people involved just kept shocking the other person due to the authority figure in the room telling them to continue.. so, are jw's under mind control in it's purest form, or just under social conformity pressure?

  last night, the pretty little weather girl stated there would "be heavy rain marked by occasional thunderstorms.

  " i thought to myself, great, hopefully its so bad when i awaken, anybody originally planning on going out, will just stay home.

  Me and Mr. Classic would bail out on the convention all the time. And once me and my siblings left during the meeting to go to McDonald's. It was soooo much fun. We just looked at each other and were like "you hungry?......yeah?......let's get a burger?"

  For the most part I was like snowbird and too zealous for my own good...............damn!

  Are the GB members and other elite persons captives as well?

  i know that the masses have definitely drunk the kool-aid but does that same conviction flow all the way to the top?

  is there a clear line between those following and those in the know?

  what current proof is there that the leadership is not captive, but the captor?

  I don't think you can separate the two. When you take out the spooky connotations of brain washing and mind control it's all the same thing. And social conformity is a matter of degrees. Every group exhibits it and it's not necessarily bad. I'm with OTWO, I don't care what you call it, it's wrong and the end result is the same.

  How can they not know what is up? They are the ones that come up with this crap. They are the ones voting on things. They know that Jehovah is not speaking to them directly and that Jesus is not leading them. I have a hard time believing that they are not in on the con. The higher up you go in this organization the more you learn how"unspiritual" these guys are. Apart from talking about their convention talks and travels they hardly mention the bible or spiritual things. And if you ask them something specific you get these canned answers....."wait on Jehovah", "just serve whole-souled", "just stay in the truth". Pleeeaaaassse. They are not captives. They are benefactors.

  You Lie I Lie

  i am still presently 'active' because of family and have recently been hounded by the elder due to low hours in the ministry.

  i have decided though that i now feel that i can lie on my service report because fds has set the perfect example for me to follow.

  yesterday in the watchtower study they were misleading in refering to millions now living may never die, and also used two scriptures to support the need to witness day and night but the scriptures were completly unrealated and taken out of context.

  I wish I had lied earlier too. When we first became publishers my dad told us kids that being a publisher meant we had to get at least one hour every month. Were we ready for that? We were like hell yeah, one hour is no problem, we can do that in our sleep. But of course once you're baptized it's really like 10 hrs. Then on school vacations it should be 60 hrs and after graduation 90 hrs (during our day).

  Yeah lying would have given us more time to learn how to think
